Bear the Astronot & Turntable Kachina are really the same guy, just two different approaches to making music. Bear Cole lives in the sticks outside of Flagstaff Arizona. He produces and write songs. He started as a DJ spinning around the Southwest, playing clubs, shows, and events for a decade. He made a name for himself as an Underground Alternative Hip Hop Artist and Lyricist, with a unique approach to Independent and Underground music and shows. He has released hundreds of songs and multiple albums as Bear the Astronot and separately as Turntable Kachina. A mix of Bluegrass, Rock, Country, Electronic, and Hip-Hop is what sets Bear’s music apart. Don’t expect one genre, or a collection of songs that sound the same. Expect to be taken on a journey through sound, and experience Bear’s love for music of all ages. Bear has a vinyl collection that rivals the size of most record stores. He has a music library that spans every genre and decade since the 30’s. He doesn’t only love to make music, he loves to listen to it. You can hear him playing piano, harmonica, banjo, and percussion on many of the songs he produces. Bear is an outdoorsman, and spends as much time as possible camping, hiking, hunting, and fishing. This juxtaposition with the Urban arts of Hip Hop and Dance Music creates a very unique sound and atmosphere. His past growing up in Grand Canyon National Park and on the Navajo and Apache reservations of Arizona helps to meld a strong and different foundation of experience from which he pulls eclectic lyrics and words, and bangs out rhythmic and enchanting beats.
